Dear Juno or any other teenage parent in the same situation, I watched your film and I thought you handled your situation very well and made a very brave decision. I think you deciding to carry your baby to term was a hard decision but it was the correct decision. Choosing to do what is right is usually the hardest path but it is the right thing to do. Deciding to keep your baby may have been looked down upon by your peers but that is only because most of them would have been too cowardly to even do what you did. I think you made the best decision possible.
It may sound extreme but I think abortion is murder. I read about a woman who became pregnant and decided she wanted an abortion because she had a toddler and felt like she wasn’t ready to take care of another baby. The woman went to the doctor and told him about her situation. The doctor explained that abortions aren’t healthy for a woman’s body and could kill not just the baby but her as well. He told her that instead of having an abortion he could kill her toddler and she could carry the new baby to term. The woman was horrified and said she would never kill her toddler. The doctor explained that this was no different than killing the baby that was in her womb. She ended up keeping her baby.
I think that saying that you are not ready to have a baby or saying that you don’t want another child is just plain selfish. I think that if you decided to have unprotected sex and knew the consequences of what it could lead to and you think it is ok to cover up your actions by having an abortion is just sick. You can’t just sweep your sins under a rug. You wouldn’t kill a newborn baby or a toddler so why would you ever think an abortion is justified? Juno, I think you did the best thing possible in your situation. Sure you made a mistake and got pregnant earlier than you would have chosen to be but you made the right decision by having your baby and giving it up for adoption. You made it possible for someone to have a baby that couldn’t have one of their own by giving your’s up for adoption. I hope that in the future girls can be brave like you and do the right thing as you did. Sincerely, Kylie S.
